Bro. Alex’s Ponytail
Congratulations to our DM/Almoner Bro Alex Barrett PM for fundraising a fantastic £3,000 for Prostate Scotland – last year Alex grew a ponytail and launched a competition to guess the length when it was cut in December 2019. Due to the current Covid-19 lockdown the cheque presentation ceremony was unfortunately not able to go ahead but we managed to get a socially distanced photograph. We are all so proud of our Alex and the huge amount he raised to assist in the defeat of prostate cancer. Even after his haircut that full head of hair will be the envy of many a Brother!
On Saturday 8 February the Lodge paid its annual tribute to its senior members and their partners. All enjoyed some homespun entertainment from Rhona and David Burns, while Gary on his accordion provided non-stop dance music to keep everyone on their toes. As ever, an event which will live long in our memories
The Lodge AGM is held at this meeting in February each year with the main business being the adoption of the Balance Sheet and Accounts for the year 2018/19. Thereafter, the Initiation which had to be postponed in January will be held this evening following which we will welcome our first new Entered Apprentice of 2020.
One of the primary purposes of modern Freemasonry is to give financial support to local and National charities and community organisations. In 2019 Lodge Rosslyn St. Clair made the donations listed below. This was made possible only with the dedicated fundraising efforts of our members and friends to whom our heartfelt thanks is given.
On 14 June the Lodge hosted a tribute to David Bowie & Rod Stewart, two of the most famous musicians of all time. Some 80 members and guests enjoyed a spectacular bonanza of music and song, with everyone participating enthusiastically. Press ‘continue’ to see a short video of the entertainment.
On Monday 8 April around a dozen members of Rosslyn St. Clair accompanied RWM George Smith, here seen replying to the toast to the visitors, on a Deputation to St. Clair Edinburgh. Regrettably only a very few photographs were taken but a most successful evening was enjoyed by all present.
On 11 April 2019 a deputation of 21 members attended Liberton 1201 to witness our IPM Alan N Henderson receive Honorary Membership of 1201 at the hands of RWM Tom O’Neill. This was Bro. Tom’s ‘Greeting’ Meetin’ at which he announced that his fundraising for Prostate Scotland had reached a total of £12,500.
Lodge Social – Friday 25th April 2014
The primary purpose of this social was not only to enjoy ourselves, but to present a cheque to the Red Cross for the Philippines Disaster Fund for £500. We were once again entertained on the night by “Just One And The Other”.
The Philippine Consulate for Edinburgh was present to witness the Cheque being handed over to the Red Cross.
We had a great visit on Saturday from the Brethren from Lodge Abercorn No114 Belfast, N Ireland Headed by The Assistant Grand Master Mason Of Ireland RW Bro Rodney McCurley (pictured centre front).
