It is with deep regret and sadness that we intimate the passing to The Grand Lodge Above of Brother Peter Avent in the early hours of 9 October 2020; he had previously suffered a severe stroke from which he could not recover.

Brother Peter was Initiated into Lodge Rosslyn St. Clair, 606 on 27th March 1985 and progressed to take his Mark Degree on 23rd November the same year. Following his retirement as a senior ranking Police Officer with a distinguished career, Peter became more active within his Mother Lodge and was elected to the post of Assistant Secretary prior to becoming Secretary in December 2015, a post which he performed admirably for three years before again assuming the role of Assistant Secretary. Brother Peter discharged his duties with diligence and dignity, characteristics which underpinned his Masonic career and relationships with his fellow Brethren; he will be sadly and greatly missed as a Brother, but mostly by his lovely family. Our thoughts are with his wife and sons at this time.
