With great sadness and regret we write to record the passing to the Grand Lodge Above of Brother George Mann PM on on 5 January 2021 at age 80 years. ‘Geordie’, as he was known to everyone throughout the Province of Midlothian began his Masonic career as a Master Mason of Dalhousie (Midlothian) 720 and later affiliated to St. Kentigern (Midlothian) 429 where he was installed as RWM in January 2005. Later that year Bro. George was made an Honorary Member of Rosslyn St. Clair, and ever since had regularly attended our meetings and social events. He was a “Weel Kent Face” throughout the Province, always ready to take part in the working of a Degree, perhaps as Tyler and even as the Candidate if required.
Geordie’s working life had been as a miner until his retirement after which he kept active by gardening, walking long distances and even climbing Ben Nevis – for the 3rd time at age 79 years because he was determined to achieve that before his 80th birthday.
The condolences of the Brethren of Lodge Rosslyn St. Clair are extended to Brother George’s widow, Margaret, and his three daughters; he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
